Foilers

Enata Group, the UAE-based international manufacturing group, has started 2023 with a number of exciting projects, product developments, partnerships and opportunities.

Refined Wingman Gen 2 control system

As builders of the revolutionary 9.8m Carbon Flying Foiler, which brings America's Cup foiling technology to a 40-knot capable dayboat/tender, Enata's Marine division has proven its expertise in pushing the boundaries of style, emotion and efficiency on the water. The Foiler is capable of operating in conventional 'Archimedean' mode or, at 12 knots, take off for 'Flight' mode, at which point the quad foils lift the hull out of the water for supremely comfortable cruising with supercar handling.

The Foiler may be advanced in its design and construction, but requires no advanced piloting skills thanks to the clever control system. Called the Wingman, the original implementation helped reduce the Foiler's overall weight by 200kg, at the same time transforming it into a true “smart yacht”.

Enata has now released an updated version which promises even more from this amazing vessel. The updated Wingman Gen 2 control system is twice as powerful as the original and allows for even more intelligent features, including the ability to monitor and control certain aspects of your Foiler through your mobile phone.

By monitoring and analyzing data from over 250 data points on the Foiler, Wingman Gen 2 gives you even more control over things like fuel economy and enables preventative maintenance, while an internet connection will unlock diagnostic data sharing with Enata HQ and beyond - On-air system updates that will mean your Foiler is continually improving and benefitting from the latest features and optimizations. The system has been designed not only with new builds in mind, but also as a retrofit option for existing boats, both foiling and non-foiling, and is also used on Enata's drones.

Enata takes flight

In addition to its Marine division, Enata has developed a notable international reputation for its aerospace operation which designs and builds world title-winning remote-controlled aircraft and advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). That experience has led to an exciting new partnership with electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) specialist Bellwether Industries on the development of Bellwether's eVTOL flying car.

Bellwether's vision is for the commuters of the future to take to the skies in private and personal eVTOL aircraft, and it recently previewed its third-generation design, the Oryx model, a sleek eVTOL model barely larger than a car SUV, capable of carrying a rider and two passengers (with a four-passenger version planned for a future design generation).

With Enata's vectoring system, Oryx would be able to cruise at 140km/h, which would enable a journey from London's Heathrow Airport to the Canary Wharf financial district in just eight minutes, compared to a typical journey time on road of 50 minutes to an hour and a half.
