5.70 meters long, 2.50 meters wide IPACD 570 is a 3D printed boat using recycled plastic, the same used for bottles and other daily uses in the kitchen. How long does it take to build it? 60 hours. It was exhibited at Boot in Düsseldorf.

What is the 3D printed boat made of?

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is a thermoplastic resin suitable for food contact and is part of the polyester family. Made with oil, natural gas or vegetable raw materials, it is 100% recyclable, PET does not lose its fundamental properties during the recovery process and can thus be transformed repeatedly to create new bottles or many other products or objects. Among these is the yarn for the 3D printer.

Is the boat 100% recyclable at the end of its life?

Yes. The IMPACD 570, like all the models from the young Dutch shipyard Impacd Boats, is built to be easily and quickly reassembled at the end of its life. To achieve this, it is not even painted, it can instead be "wrapped", then covered with an adhesive film.

How is it motorized?

The model exhibited at the German show had a Mercury Avator 35e electric outboard, but it can also be had in an electric but sterndrive version. There is also the possibility of fitting an internal combustion engine, if within 5 years the owner decides to switch to electric, the shipyard offers the possibility of converting the boat (by carrying out the refit work himself).
